General NewsIt's been a long time since I've had to update, primarily because there has been no change in the site status. However, that is now changing. Diversified (through their holding company, CTW) is now going through the process to get the land annexed and rezoned. It looks like the current plan specifically excludes Large Single Use Retail (i.e. big box). The community meeting for this is:
    • Monday, March 31, 2008.
    • 6:00 p.m.
    • Chandler Christian Church, Room B-100
      1285 S. Alma School Rd
      Chandler, AZ, 85249
Meet us there if you can.

ActivismThe amount of time before early voting is over is coming up fast, so please make sure that you vote.

I would also like to re-interate that Riggs Residents for Retail Diversity, Inc (RRRD, Inc) does NOT endorse any specific candidates, in spite of what you may have read on door hangers or in editorials. We provide you information on their positions so that you can include that in your decision making process when you go to the polls as an informed voter. Individual members do have strong opinions on candidates, but as an advocacy organization we have worked very hard to try to be a voice for the community, not a campaign.

In case you don't think it's important anymore, read on.

    ActivismQuestion #2 was:
What are your views on retail diversity in Chandler and how would you vote on those issues, especially super centers?

ActivismWell, election time is upon us. As a result it is time to start sharing what the candidates responses to our questions were. I will post the Council candidates first, and then finish with the Mayoral candidates over the next two weeks. In order to try to be fair the answers will alternate between alphabetic and reverse alphabetic. As a refresher, the first question was:

Do you believe the corner of Riggs Road and Arizona Avenue is an appropriate location for a large single use retail store?
