ActivismFor those of you just reading here, and not reading email, Diversified has requested that the project be postponed until the November 5th, and the subsequent City Council meeting. We haven't been told why, but our best guess is that they want to wait until after elections. We'll keep you up to date as we find out more. So, take the night off, no need to go to the Downtown Library unless you need a good book.

     September Update  View Printable Version

ActivismNote: Community meeting is at Basha and P&Z is at 5:30

We've learned through several independent sources that Diversified Partners plans to put a Wal-Mart at this location. So, four years later, we're back where we started. The consensus is that they want to get a plan approved that has the main section broken into smaller pads, and then they will work to get approval to remove those walls to make it large enough for a Wal-Mart.

So, what do we need from you?

    • Attend all the meetings you can:
      • Community Meeting: Wednesday, September 10th, 6:45 p.m. at the Basha High School Library
      • Planning & Zoning: Wednesday, September 17th at 5:30 p.m. on the second floor of the downtown branch of the Chandler Public Library
      • Council Meeting: Thursday, October 30th at 7:00 p.m., also on the second floor of the downtown branch of the Chandler Public Library.
    • Email the Mayor and Council about your concerns.
    • Get involved. We need all the help we can get.
    • Review the plans (it's a large file).

It's been a long time  View Printable Version

General NewsIt's been a long time since I've had to update, primarily because there has been no change in the site status. However, that is now changing. Diversified (through their holding company, CTW) is now going through the process to get the land annexed and rezoned. It looks like the current plan specifically excludes Large Single Use Retail (i.e. big box). The community meeting for this is:
    • Monday, March 31, 2008.
    • 6:00 p.m.
    • Chandler Christian Church, Room B-100
      1285 S. Alma School Rd
      Chandler, AZ, 85249
Meet us there if you can.

General NewsWell, like any project like this, we have found it necessary to do some fund raising. We could do this buy selling hot dogs people don't want to eat, or washing cars, but then you might end up seeing some of us in bathing suits, and there is a lot of liability there. :) So, instead we have setup an easy online donation method, which you can see in the upper right corner. These donations are used to help defray our expenses on things like copying, cell phones, stickers, signs, etc...More details below.

We also have the results of the SanTan Sun News survey. Click on Read More to sell the full results.
